Malkangiri, March 12: The headmaster of Chaulamendi Upgraded High School in Mathili block of this district allegedly raped a Class IX student of the school last month, police said Thursday.
The incident came to light after a complaint against the headmaster, Bandu Pujari, was lodged by the victim’s family.
According to the complaint, the
headmaster had visited Sarita’s (name changed) home December 20 last year and persuaded her to come to school.
At school, he took her to a room and kissed her and touched her private parts, while threatening her of
dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone.
February 19, Pujari asked the girl to go to kitchen and help in mid-day meal preparation. Later, he raped her inside the room.
The victim informed her family about the incident following which they lodged a complaint against Pujari with the police.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered and police have started an investigation. The accused, however, has been absconding in order to avoid arrest.
