Puri: With the pilgrim city of Puri receiving 70 mm rainfall during last 24 hours, a kind of man made flood like situation was witnessed Sunday morning at Badadanda and Belabhumi road, putting lakhs of devotees in misery.
Despite several rounds of meetings and measures taken to give the devotees an hassle free darshan. The present condition reflects that the district administration has drastically failed.
With no temporary shed put up this year by the administration, the pilgrims are suffering many problems.
On the other hand Puri Lodging House Fund Committee has put up one temporary shed and the Railway Department has come up with two-one permanent mela shed and one temporary shelter shed.
Thousands of devotees have taken shelter in these three sheds.
While knee deep water at Gundicha temple’s Nakachana gate, the festivity moods of pilgrims is dampened. People are happier to stay back at the sheds than going out.
