Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Friday that very heavy rainfall is likely to lash eight districts of Odisha. This will happen due to the impact of the third low-pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal which has formed since August 19.
“The southwest monsoon has become vigorous over Odisha. With this a low-pressure area is developing over north Bay of Bengal, many places across the state have been experiencing heavy rainfall since Wednesday,” the IMD said in a release.

The Friday afternoon bulletin issued by the IMD said: Light to moderate thundershower with one or two spells of intense rain is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Keonjhar, Malkangiri, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore.
Some coastal districts have recorded deficit rainfall and this low pressure will bring rain to those areas, experts said, adding, the rainfall activity may also continue further. The monsoon will be there in the state till October 10.
Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperature of 33.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Jharsuguda.
