Bhubaneswar,: ‘Hela Mate Prema Jara Aai Aai oo’, the title track of the eponymous Oriya film, has risen to the 19th spot on iTunes among 200 other songs from the region.
This is the first time an Oriya song has made it to the top 20 list on iTunes. Arun Mantry penned the lyrics and Amara Muzik holds the rights of the song.
Actor Sabyasachi, who sang ‘Hela Mate . . .’ had some anecdotes to share about his vocal experience. “Although I have learnt music and am able to play some instruments I had never considered playback singing. I consider myself a bathroom singer. This is my second track as a singer after the title track ‘Pilata Bigidi Gala’. We had planned an Arabic sequence for that song and the composer sent me the music track for my suggestions. I endorsed some parts and suggested changes in the second stanza. In fact I recorded the song in the bathroom to get an echo effect (bathroom singers can correlate it, he adds) and sent it back. He listened to my voice in the track and wanted me to sing. I was sceptical and so asked him to do the recording secretly and if only we all would be satisfied than would announce the singer’s name. For this track, too, I put the same condition and thankfully popularity of this track exceeded the first one.”
Speaking of the composition, music director Prem Anand said: “My son used to utter ‘Ai Ai ioo’ whenever he is asked to sing a song. I had always thought of using the tag in a song. During the music sitting I proposed to use the same. The team happily accepted and now the track clicked.”
