Mumbai: India’s dream of winning a third ICC World Cup title ended in tears after an 18-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the semifinals.
The Black Caps’ lethal pace attack completely shattered the Indian top-order after dismissing openers Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and skipper Virat Kohli in quick succession.
After India lost its top order very quickly, netizens trolled cricketers for their poor performance. And facing the brunt of the criticism were Kohli and his actress wife Anushka Sharma.
As usual, trolls on social media pointed all their guns at Anushka for Team India and Virat’s poor performance on the pitch. A barrage of memes and abuses could be seen doing the rounds on Twitter.
