Bhubanewar, April 22: Hockey Gangpur defeated Hockey Bhopal 5-2 in a hard-fought Pool-B match of the Vth Senior Mens’ Hockey Championship at Pune, Wednesday.
Gangpur drew first blood the as early as the fourth minute through Pratap Lakra. However, Bhopal’s star player Aftab Khan restored parity in the 26th minute.
Three later minutes, Gangpur’s, Amardeep put his team in the lead. In the 42nd minute, Gangpur earned another penalty corner and this time again Pratap converted. In the very next minute, Deepak Lakra sneaked into Bhopal’s half at speed to score the fourth goal for Gangpur.
In the second session Bhopal captain Mobin Ur Rahman and his Gangpur counterpart Roshan Minz scored.
