Bhubaneswar: Hockey Orissa entered the quarterfinals Tuesday in the Sub-Junior Men’s National Hockey Championships (Division A) after thrashing Mumbai School Sports Association 7-0 at Saifai in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
SAIL clinch title
Rourkela-based SAIL Hockey Academy emerged champions in the Shri Nawagrah Trophy All India Invitational hockey tournament defeating Maharashtra Police 1-0 at Khargon, MP. The tournament ended January 20.
Vth Battalion, Baripada triumph
Vth Battalion, Baripada were crowned champions of the village level volleyball tournament, organised by the Mayurbhanj United Sports Culture and Art Association (MUSCAAN) and Mayurbhanj Athletic Association, which concluded Tuesday at the College Ground in Baripada. The champions defeated hosts MUSCAAN 25-20, 25-22, 25-21 in the final.
Ascot Eagle emerge champs
Ascot Eagle emerged champions of the knockout cricket tournament after beating Brahmanijhari by 19 runs in the final, played at the High School Ground in Khuntapada under Jhumpura block in Keonjhar district, Monday. Batting first, the winning side scored 83 in their allotted 12 overs. In reply, Brahmanijhari were bowled out for 64.
