Soro: A house was gutted in a fire at Pakhar village near here in Balasore district Sunday night. There was no casualty. The fire was suspected to be result of a short-circuit. Household furniture, electronic goods and other valuables were reduced to ashes.
Locals said sparks erupted at the five-room house of Buddhiram Mohanty while family members were asleep. The family woke up only after the fire gained fury. Neighbours too woke up and tried to douse the flames. Two fire tenders from Soro and Bari reached the spot and brought down the blaze.
Police launched an investigation.
