Bhubaneswar, Jan 9: A 14-member House Committee of Orissa Assembly which paid a two-day visit to Dhamra port has concluded its visit.
The panel headed by Cuttack-MLA PR Biswal Friday reviewed the recruitment process and performance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) by Dhamra Port Company Ltd (DPCL).
The committee visited the fishing harbour at Dhamra and enquired about the irregularities in the management of accounts of Fisherman Management Society. They verified some documents being maintained by the Fisheries officials.
Source said, DPCL director SK Mohapatra detailed the progress of the port work and periphery development activities.
The committee will submit its report to the concerned authorities soon.
Earlier, the committee paid a surprise visit to the district headquarters hospital at Balasore. The members inspected various wards of the hospital and interacted with patients and their attendants about the problems they were facing.
They expressed displeasure over the unclean atmosphere of the hospital and directed the district collector and the chief district medical officer to take action against the staff responsible for it.
The members also noticed that patients were supplied bread without milk and asked the CDMO to deduct a day’s salary of the official responsible for such shoddy work.
The team directed the CDMO to visit various wards on a weekly basis to learn the problems of the patients and asked the district collector to depute one official to visit the hospital every month.
The committee comprised MLAs Bhujbal Majhi, Duguni Kahanr, Muktikant Mandal, Sukant Nayak and Ganeswar Patra. They were accompanied by Balasore MLA Jiban Pradip Das, zill parish chairperson Urmilata Das, collector Sanatan Mallick, CDMO-in-charge Charubala Rath, ADMO SS Choudhury and a host of district level officials.
