Cuttack, March 17: The evaluation of answer sheets of subjective papers of this year’s annual High School Certificate (HSC) examinations in the state began Tuesday in as many as 66 evaluation centres.
One of the evaluation centres here, Nuabazaar High School, has been divided into 12 units with each unit having one chief examiner and three deputy examiners. The block education officer is officiating as the nodal officer for the smooth conduct of the evaluation process, said the headmaster of the school who is also the supervisor of the evaluation centre.
Drinking water facilities, temporary canteens and other arrangements have been made for the convenience of the examiners so that they do not need to go outside the premises once the evaluation starts at 9:30am till it ends for the day at 5pm.
Scrutinisers and examiners have been instructed to minutely examine all answer sheets and enter marks in the marks foil, said the nodal officer at Nua Bazar High School, adding that there is no scope for discrepancies under the present system.
The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which aims at completing the evaluation in 10 days, has initiated many steps to reduce errors. “Instructions have been issued to avoid errors and improper marking. The teachers have been directed to report at the evaluation centre at 9:30am everyday,” said BSE president Dakhya Prasad Nanda.
“For the first time, BSE has asked evaluators to switch off mobile phones before entering the evaluation centre to avoid errors in the evaluation of the answer sheets ,” Nanda said.
