Bhubaneswar, Nov 19: State-run Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO) has floated expression of interest (EoI) from industrial groups for setting up units in the upcoming sea food park at Deras- located at the outskirts of the city.
IDCO, which has earmarked about 152.78 acres of land near Deras in Khurda district and is responsible for providing infrastructure and utilities to the park, has fixed December 4, 2015 as the last date for submission of proposals.
Giving details of the eligibility of an anchor tenant, IDCO said the firm should have a minimum net worth of Rs 50 crore and minimum turnover of Rs 5 crore. “The firm should qualify as the anchor tenant as defined under Industrial Policy Resolution, 2015 of Government of Orissa,” the notice said.
The state body has also floated expression of interest from industrial firms for setting up chemical units in the upcoming food processing unit.
According to the project report of Deras food park, total cost for the project is estimated at Rs 134.32 crore. “The cost of the project is proposed to be financed through a mix of equity, grant from Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the Mega Food Park Scheme and term loan from bank,” the report said.
Notably, the state has been ranked ninth in terms of fish production by producing 4.7 per cent of the total fish produced in India during 2010-11. Seafood industry has maintained its growth momentum in the recent years. Exports from the state rose from Rs 886.15 crore ($148 million) in the fiscal year 2012-13 to Rs 1,817 crore ($303 million) in 2013-14, representing an increase of more than 105 per cent. About 30,980 tonne of shrimp and fish were exported from the state in 2013-14. Given this background, the proposed sea food park is likely to generate huge interest among stakeholders in the near future.
