Berhampur: Tainted and suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak and son Akash Pathak have been booked in three new fraud cases registered against them in Golanthara police station here, Monday.
Reports said Golanthara police in Ganjam district Monday included the father-son duo in the fraud cases which were earlier registered against Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi, who was arrested last year on the charges of defrauding youths on the pretext of providing them jobs in Tata Motors. Panigrahi was accused of collecting money from the youths on behalf of Akash Pathak on the pretext of false job promise.
Police after registering the cases prayed before the Berhampur sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) court to allow them to summon Pathaks for further questioning in the case. The court admitted the appeal and issued a letter to the Bhubaneswar SDJM to allow custody of the father-son duo to Berhampur police.
Accordingly, a team of Berhampur police left for Bhubaneswar Monday. The Berhampur police will bring the father-son duo from Bhubaneswar and produce them in the Berhampur court. Later, the SDJM Jeetendriya Panigrahi will implicate them in the three cases.
