Bhubaneswar, May 5: The National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has asked the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) here to provide two-year training to 1,644 Hindi teachers of Class IX to XII in the state.
The state government has earlier come up with an agreement to train untrained Hindi teachers in state with the help of IGNOU. However, IGNOU has denied providing any support to state citing reason that they are busy amending the NCTE regulation 2014.
The state government has then written to NCTE seeking interference into the matter. “We have come up with a draft agreement and sent it to the IGNOU regional director here. When IGNOU New Delhi informed us that they cannot take up the programme, we sought NCTE’s interference,” said an official here.
After receiving NCTE’s approval, the state government has sent the letter to IGNOU study centre.
