Balasore: Acting on a tip-off, the flying squad of Excise Department busted an illicit liquor making unit at Ada village under Soro police limits in this district Saturday morning.
The raid team also arrested a person in connection with the incident.
Acting on reliable information, the excise officials of Cuttack and Soro conducted a joint raid on the property located in Ada village and seized large amounts of stock labels, machines, spirit, color and empty bottles. The cops also seized other packaging materials from the unit and sealed the illegal unit.
While further probe into the matter is currently underway, the owner of the house Ajit Kumar Barik has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A case has been registered and efforts are on to nab others involved in running the illegal brewery, excise officials informed.
This apart, foreign liquor was seized from Bartana and Gandibed areas of Balasore and two persons were held in connection with the incident.
