New Delhi: India raced towards the 30 lakh-mark for coronavirus cases Friday with 68,898 new cases of coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours. It took the total tally of COVID-19 patients in the country to 29,05,769. The current number of active coronavirus cases in India now stands at 6,86,395.
In the last 24 hours, India reported 983 deaths also. It took the death toll to 54,897. So far 21,58,947 persons have recovered from the disease.
India is the worst-hit country in Asia, and third behind the United States and Brazil in terms of total cases of the coronavirus.
