Bhubaneswar: Having defeated heavyweights Kerala Blasters in the qualifiers, AIFF’s developmental side Indian Arrows would like to continue their momentum and hint for a big gun again when they face ISL runners-up FC Goa in the round of 16 of the Super Cup here at Kalinga Stadium, Saturday.
While most of the teams enjoyed a good break of around two weeks, majority of the Arrows’ boys were in Uzbekistan for the 2020 AFC U-23 Qualifiers losing both their matches.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Arrows coach Floyd Pinto seemed confident of a positive result.
“We are playing against one of the best attacking teams in the country, so it is definitely going to be a tough game. We have been in good form off late and want to take that momentum into the game,” Pinto remarked.
On the other hand, FC Goa are coming into the tournament after suffering a heartbreaking last minute loss against Bengaluru FC in the ISL final. Goa head coach Sergio Lobera praised the Arrows’ boys and said they need to have the right attitude if they want to progress.
“Arrows are a strong team who have the advantage of playing at this time, under these weather conditions. We are not at our 100 percent, if we are to progress in the tournament,” Lobera said.
However, in the other match to be played Saturday, Delhi Dynamos are again to get a walk-over as their opponents East Bengal withdrew from the tournament.
