Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s para-athlete Jayanti Behera is set to receive the prestigious Biju Patnaik Sports Award for the year 2019. The state Sports Secretary Vishal Dev informed Jayanti about this in a letter Wednesday.
She will receive the award for her outstanding performances in Sports and Games, the Secretary expressed.

“We are proud of your achievements in sports and wish you to achieve greater heights in future,” Dev stated in his letter.
The award ceremony will be held on the eve of National Sports Day – August 29 at Lok Seva Bhawan here.
The athlete in turn has thanked the state government on selecting her for the prestigious award.
Jayanti, who is a native of Sakhigopal area in Puri district, is a track and field paralympic athlete who has already represented India in the women’s 200m, 400m, and 800m events.
She is also a world youth champion in the TR 400m event and won the gold medal at National Para Athletics Championships 2018.
