Bhubaneswar: The Indian History Collection Society unveiled its 4th souvenir on the history of Indian temple archeology and development at the Red cross Bhawan here, Sunday. The souvenir titled Itihasyana was released jointly by Padma Bibhusan Raghunath Mohapatra, Prof Dadhibamana Mishra and archeologist Bijay Kumar Ratha.
Addressing the audience, Mohapatra said, “History is the soul of a country and the current generation realises the richness of the nation through its history. Therefore, we have tried to describe the history of temples in Odisha through Itihasyana “.
Seconding his opinion, archeologist Bijay Kumar Ratha said, “This souvenir tries to educate the culture and temple loving people of Odisha as well as of India. The book on Srimandir ‘Madala Panji’ has depicted three important chapters like the Srimandir’s rituals, the history of maharaja’s in Odisha and Chhamu Chitau, which describes the protocols involved in welcoming kings of other states and other temple matters. Similarly, we also have made efforts to make people realise the structural aspect of different temples and their archeology, as Odisha, especially Bhubaneswar is well-known as the Temple City.”
Prof Mishra stressed on the importance of knowing more about the rich temple culture of Odisha and the different temple rituals, besides the Vaastu Shastra related to the mystical aspect of these ancient shrines. This book aims to create more awareness among people about the history of the various temples in the state.
