post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 30: The recent rains and the clouds in the sky might have brought the mercury level down a bit, but one is sure that the summer sun will hit back with all accompanying cruelty in the days to come. To fight the harsh summer heat the students, their parents, the executives, who are more into field jobs, and others who have to brave the sun everyday have a new friend and guide – the mobile apps. Many mobile applications are available, especially on smartphones, which will not only tell you about the right intake of liquid and food during the summer, but also will tell you about other precautions you need to take to fight off the heat as well as the harmful UV rays.
“There are many mobile applications in the market now, which can help in guiding and advising its users on how to tackle the summer heat. There are numerous apps such as ‘Aqualert’, ‘Iwater’, ‘Waterbalance’, among others, which can calculate the amount of water required for any person depending upon his/her body mass index (BMI). These apps help the users to know how much fluid intake is required by an individual using the app, to keep common health ailments at bay during the summer,” says Avik Srivastava, a sales executive with a leading marketing firm in the city.
Like Avik, many other tech savvy young men and women are taking the advantage of the numerous interesting apps, which are making their lives easier. They can now, thanks to these apps, better manage their lifestyle-related problems, of which lack of proper diet is an important one. Niramaya Tripathi, a 2nd year BTech student of KIIT said, “Many of us are afraid of the harmful effects of the sunlight. More than usual exposure to the summer sun harms the human skin. But now with the advent of these apps, it has become easier for us to get info and tips on how to protect our skin during summers.”
Sikha Gujadhar, another engineering student from ITER College, agrees. “There are several apps which work in different ways to help you take the right decision on time. Apps like ‘Violet’, ‘Sunshield’, ‘Sun UV Protector’ and others give us vital information on how to manage our skin during summers. Some apps even alert us when we are in the sun for a long time. Some apps also evaluate the degree of exposure to excessive sunlight when a small button on the app is pressed,” Sikha said.
These apart, there are several other apps as well that have made the lives of the health conscious people easier. Many of those apps also help in giving tips on a perfect diet during the summer. “I am an avid user of mobile applications and always in search of new utilitarian apps. Recently I found an app called ‘Juice Pro’. It helps me in telling what recipes I should follow to prepare food that would tackle sunburns and other summer-related health ailments.”
