Bissam Katak: In a shocking incident, a youth allegedly killed his girlfriend and threw her body in a forest near Kiribiri Chowk under this police limits in Rayagada district Monday over her family members’ denial of their marriage.
The deceased was identified as Nitu Nauri of Block Colony under Bissam Katak police limits and the accused as her boyfriend Manual Sabar, a resident of Marathiguda under Gunupur police limits.
According to the family members of the deceased, Manual had a relationship with Nitu for long and was often coming to their residence. Manual wanted to marry Nitu, but her family rejected his marriage proposal. Manual called Nitu over phone Monday afternoon and tried to convince her for marriage. However, when she refused to marry him, he killed her and threw her body in the forest.
Later Manual surrendered before police at Gunupur police station. However, Gunupur police handed over the accused to officials at Bissam Katak police station under whose jurisdiction the crime was committed.
Informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to hospital for post-mortem. Police then initiated an investigation into the incident with the help of a scientific team to ascertain the exact reason behind her death.
On the other hand, family members of the deceased have demanded strict action against the accused. Demanding justice for the bereaved family, villagers blocked the main road connecting Rayagada to Bhawanipatna.
