Telkoi: The Juanga settlements in the Telkoi block of Keonjhar in Saleikena panchayat lack basic facilities and their children are malnourished, a report said.
The report said there are 28 Juanga villages in this block, but most of them have no road, healthcare, livelihood and drinking water facilities.
In the absence of drinking water facilities, the people of Juanga basti near Saleikena panchayat office have to drink from streams. Around 30 families live in the basti.
The Juanga basti has no Anganwadi to look after the kids and their pre-schooling. “As healthcare is just a dream people have no other option but to take the help of traditional healers, sorcerers, and quacks,” said Jhura Junaga.
The villagers expressed anger over the neglect they are suffering in matters of healthcare, education and drinking water.
Sarpanch Rinki Nayak said that development projects will be executed in the Juanga tribal areas. PNN
