The trailer of upcoming Hindi film ‘Kadvi Hawa’ created a record after crossing 3 million hits within just 24 hours of its release. The film dwells on the issue of climate change. So far the trailer has garnered 3,045,104 views. Directed by Padmashree awardee Nilamadhab Panda, the film casts veterans Sanjay Mishra, Ranvir Shorey, Tillotama Shome and Bhupesh Singh in the lead roles.
‘Kadvi Hawa’ narrates a heartrending drama on climate change. Ranvir Shorey plays the role of a young bank loan recovery agent while Sanjay Mishra is an old blind farmer in the film which shows how these two common men fight for survival in two extreme weather conditions.
The plot runs thus: Once famous for farming, the people of Mahua in Rajasthan have forgotten even the scent of rainfall on their soil. Lack of rainfall has led many farmers into a debt trap set out as bank loans. Unable to grow foodgrains anymore and to escape repayments, many farmers commit suicide. Hedu, the blind father of a farmer, finds his son’s life threatened by the same pressure. Gunu Baba, a ruthless bank agent, arrives with a growing list of suicides in his wake. But frequent cyclones threaten his family in a coastal village in Orissa. Each wanting to save their own family, they end up helping one another.
Producer of the film Akshay Parija says: “The film dwells on an Indian story relevant to the whole world.” A Harvard Business School alumnus, Parija is an avid promoter of performing arts and culture. ‘Kadvi Hawa’ won a national award on the Special Mention Category. Parija’s earlier films like ‘Jianta Bhuta’ and ‘Thukool’ have also received awards and critical acclaim. Parija’s co-producers are Manish Mundra and Nila Madhab Panda.
Nila Madhab Panda, also the director of the film, says: “We have tried to make the film as eco-friendly as possible, as we all have a responsibility towards our planet.” Panda’s film ‘I am Kalam’ has won many international and national awards. Drishyam Films’ ‘Kadvi Hawa’ is slated for a pan-India theatrical release November 24.
