Bhubaneswar: In a bid to put an end to the controversy over setting up of sports complex on of Kalinga Studio premises, MSME Minister Prafulla Samal Monday said no land would be allotted for any other purpose at the studio.
“So much importance shouldn’t be given to inter-departmental communications unless it is from the Chief Minister. As per my knowledge, the state government has sanctioned about Rs 2 crore for revival of Kalinga Studio. Idco has been entrusted with revive of the defunct studio,” Samal told media persons here.
When asked if the government will provide land for sports complex, the minister said, “We have already asked Idco to develop Kalinga studio in the line of famous RK Studio and Gemini Studios so that producers from other states can use the facility here. How can its land be handed over to someone else?”
The government doesn’t have any intention to shut down Kalinga Studio for development of sports; he clarified, adding, “We can earmark vacant land in other areas for developing sports infrastructure. State government, at any cost, would not handover the Kalinga Studio for any other purpose.”
Notably, a recent letter of Sports Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev to General Administration department seeking land in the premises of Kalinga Studio to build a Sports Complex had created controversy.
