Cuttack, Jan 19: Kendrapara were on their way to a huge first innings lead after rattling the top order of Koraput on the first day of their two-day tie of the OCA U-16 Sumit Bose Memorial Inter-District cricket tournament at the Sunshine Ground here Monday.
In reply to Kendrapara’s first innings total of 209, Koraput were looking down the barrel losing seven wickets for 50 runs. Rajat Das (60) continued his impressive performance in the tournament and played fine knock once more. Shekhar Das (5/6) did the damage with the ball when Koraput batted.

Punjab take lead
Punjab took the first innings lead, while Madhya Pradesh dominated the day one of their four-day long semifinal matches of the U-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy at different grounds here Monday.
At the Ravenshw Ground, in reply to Bengal’s first innings score of 102, Punjab were 107 for the loss of seven wickets on day one. Subham Gill (47, 82b, 7×4) was occupying the crease at stumps. Soubhik Paul (4/20) of Bengal bowled well.
Earlier opting to bat first, Bengal struggled on a lively pitch against Rahul Kashyap (4/10) and Resham Sharma (4/31) of Punjab and were dismissed cheaply.
At Nimpur Ground, Madhya Pradesh dominated the first day dismissing Maharashtra for 155 runs in their first essay. In reply, MP were 55 without loss at stumps.
