Anandpur: A 45-year-old man died after being bitten by a venomous snake while attempting to rescue it from a fishing net in Keonjhar district Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Sujit Naik of Kalara Gadia under Ghasipura police limits in Anandapur sub-division.
Naik had gone to the Baitarani River to retrieve a fishing net Wednesday, when he found a venomous snake trapped in it.
While trying to free the reptile, the snake bit him. He died on the way to a hospital in Cuttack.
