Keonjhar murder over witchcraft solved as 2 minors surrender

Keonjhar: Two minors, including a girl, surrendered before police at the Dhenkikote out post under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district Thursday evening. They confessed to have hacked an elderly woman to death suspecting her to be practicing sorcery Wednesday night.

The police had recovered the body of Kuni Munda (65) lying in a pool of blood from her house at Bholbeda village under Ghatagaon police limits Thursday morning.

Police were investigating Kuni’s death when the two turned up at Dhenkikote outpost to surrender. They were produced at a juvenile court Friday and sent to a correction home.

Sources said that girl’s mother has been suffering from an unknown illness for the last eight months. She suspected that Kuni had performed black magic on her mother. Similarly, the parents of the minor boy had died a few weeks back. He also blamed Kuni for their death.

As the two nurtured a grudge against Kuni, they joined hands and made plans to eliminate her. Their job became easy as Kuni stayed alone. They barged into her house Wednesday night and hacked her to death with an axe.
