Kids’ dance moves floor audience

post news network, Bhubaneswar, June 19: A number of song and dance performances by children of varied age group enthralled the audience present at the Soochana Bhawan, Friday. The performances were part of a cultural event organized by the city-based Odissi dance and music institute, Om Kalinga Kala Parishad.

Students, undertaking training at the institute, dressed in colourful attires beautifully attempted some of the moves and emotions often depicted by the expert dancers. The institution Friday organised its 31st cultural evening designed to provide the next generation a platform to showcase their talent.

Aradhana Panigrahi, cultural secretary of the institution said, “Around 90 well-trained disciples of the institute presented an exclusive show, based on their talent and dedication towards dance and music. The event started with Mangalacharan and continued with performances on Pallavi, Abhinaya, Odissi vocal, Garba and other dance forms.”

A number of people were present to see the cultural shows held at the auditorium. Noted parallel cinema director Sabysachi Mohapatra, eminent writer Dash Benhur, retired joint director, Agriculture, Amulya Ratan Dutta, and others also came to the venue to enjoy the cultural evening.

Dutta said, “I am fond of different dance forms and always enjoy a glimpse of these. Today I came down from Balasore to the place to enjoy some of the dance forms, which the kids and other expert artists performed.”

Kalaniga Behera, a mother of a 13-year-old Odissi dancer said, “We came here to support our daughter, who has been performing on the stage today. We always support our child for her co-curricular activities. To see how she has picked up her dance, we came here with our whole family.”
