Jeypore: Sumit Sourav, a youth from Parabeda area of this town in Koraput district has made the country and state proud by coming second in the International Salsa Dance Competition held in Paris, France.
Sumit was the only Indian among the 17 Asian participants who took part in the competition Saturday. He has been active in the dancing field for a decade and has trained many youngsters/dancers in a variety of dance formats including Salsa, Jazz and Funk in countries like Europe, Germany and Italy. Sumit, the son of Odissi danseuse of international repute Chandana Roul, is also the founder and director of Delhi-based Dance Project House.
Apart from Salsa, he has got expertise in Chhau, Ballet, contemporary, Bollywood and Afro-Cuban dance styles, it is learnt.
Born in 1992, Sourav is now doing his MA after completing graduation in Bhubaneswar. He was inspired by his mother as she is an established dancer, said the young dance master. PNN
