KV-I, KIIT win TT championships

Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Kendriya Vidyalaya KV-I girls’ and KIIT International School boys’ teams emerged champions of the MCL Cup Inter-School Table Tennis Championships after beating Delhi Public School and St. Xavier’s High School respectively in the team events at the Sahid Nagar Indoor Hall here Sunday, being organised by the Bhubaneswar Table Tennis Association.
In the team events SAI International School and KIIT International School clinched the title respectively. SAI blanked St. Xavier’s High School, while KIIT thrased Delhi Public School by identical 3-0 margins.
Anjali Agrawal of KV-I bagged both the women’s and junior girls titles by edging past Suryasmita Aparajita and Ankita Senapati respectively. Krishna Prusty of St. Xavier’s claimed triple crowns in the men, junior boys’ and sub-junior boys’ events.
Salonee Pattanaik grabbed the sub junior girls’ title after defeating Gayatri Mitra. The cadet girls’ and boys’ trophies were lifted by Swetapadma Dalei and Rajneesh Chiplunkar
respectively.

Orissa emerged champions of the U-19 Vinoo Mankad East Zone League beating Jharkhand by six wickets at the Eden Gradens in Kolkata, Sunday.
Opting to bat first, Jharkhand scored 211 runs in 49.5 overs with Amit Kumar (65, 73b, 4×4, 3×6) scoring the highest. Ashutosh Das (4/45) was the pick of the Orissa bowlers.
In reply, Orissa chased down the total in 44.5 overs for the loss of four wickets with Sandeep Patnaik (96 n o, 92b, 12×4, 2×6) leading the run chase.
Brief Score: Jharkhand 211 (Amit Kumar 65; Ashutosh Das 4/45) lost to Orissa 215/4 in 44.5 overs (Sandeep Patnaik 96) by six wickets.
MS XI win
MS XI blanked Tech Mahindra 2-0 in a lop-sided Group B match of the Gati Krushna Memorial Football League at the Unit I Boys’ High School Ground here Sunday. Salman Soren scored a brace for the winning team in the 21st and the 45th minutes respectively.
