Puri, Jan 10: A woman constable was raped by an inspector inside a police station here late Friday.
The victim along with Constable and Havildar Association (CHA) president Sudhansu Sekhar Pradhan met superintendent of police (SP) Asish Kumar Singh Saturday evening and lodged a complaint.
The victim, a Dalit, alleged efforts were on to hush up the matter as the accused is in charge of the police station where she works.
Singh later met additional SP Jagannath Pradhan, city DSP Pravat Routray, reserve police inspector Soumendra Nayak and president of CHA in this regard.
When contacted, Routray and additional SP feigned ignorance regarding the allegation.
Singh however admitted that the victim met him and that a complaint was lodged. “I will talk to other officials and take action,” Singh added.
