Bhubaneswar: Khurda district excise department superintendent Prasanna Acharya Sunday informed that a lady sub-inspector appointed in Bhubaneswar has tested positive for COVID-19.
Acharya said that the lady sub-inspector had been transferred from Sambalpur to Bhubaneswar recently and was supposed to join duty at the excise superintendent’s office here. She came to the Bhubaneswar office Saturday to complete some official formalities.
The lady inspector had been experiencing cold and cough since some days before. Her swab samples were collected Friday and she tested positive for the disease Sunday.
The sub-inspector has now admitted to a COVID hospital in Keonjhar.
“After the lady sub-inspector tested positive for COVID-19, following the protocol, we have closed the office. A sanitation drive will be carried out,” Acharya added.
