Lawyers take to streets seeking permanent HC bench in Bolangir

Bolangir: Bolangir Lawyers’ Association has called for a two-day bandh starting Wednesday in all government offices and banks of this town demanding establishment of a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in Bolangir.

The strike launched Wednesday would continue till Thursday, said a lawyer.

According to the association, all the government offices, banks and post offices in the district have been shut down while schools, colleges and other educational institutions including, shops and business establishments are functioning normally.

The lawyers staged a demonstration in front of the collector’s office and the civil court under the leadership of the president of the association Pramod Kumar Tripathy. Besides, they picketed in front of the government offices.

The lawyers assembled in front of the bar association office here and reiterated their demand for the establishment of a permanent bench of Orissa High Court in Western Odisha. The association has long been demanding for this and has taken to several mediums of protest in the past as well.
