Veteran wrestler The Undertaker allegedly has announced his retirement from the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and this time it seems legit.
In the final chapter of the Last Ride docuseries, Undertaker claimed that he can’t find any desire to get into the ring again after his Boneyard showdown against AJ Styles.
As soon as the final episode aired worldwide, WWE took to social media to pay tribute to the veteran show stopper, confirming Undertaker’s retirement.
One of the most loyal employees of the company, The Undertaker had joined WWE in 1990 and made his debut in November that year. The 55-year-old became one of the top draws right at the start of his career and participated in title matches.
A seven-time World Champion, The Undertaker also won the tag team titles six times. He is also a one-time Royal Rumble winner (2007) and a 12-time Slammy Award winner.
“I believe I’m at a place now, post-Boneyard, which was a hellacious battle against one of the best in the business. Here you are, climbing on your motorcycle and taking off. There was a lot of thought and a lot of emotion, one of those being ‘are you happy enough with that?’ It was a powerful moment,” he said in The Last Ride.
“You don’t necessarily always get those. If there was ever a perfect ending to a career, that right there was it. If Vince was in a pinch, would I come back? I guess time would only tell there. In case of emergency, break glass, you pull out The Undertaker. I would consider it. At this point in my career, I have no desire to get back in the ring,” The Undertaker added.
One of the most decorated superstars of all time, The Undertaker will be best-known for his performances at Wrestlemania. He won 21 back-to-back matches at Wrestlemania. His illustrious streak ended at Wrestlemania 30, where Brock Lesnar pinned him down in an epic battle.
The Undertaker returned and participated in five more Wrestlemania matches. He suffered another defeat at the hands of Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 33. In 2018, he defeated John Cena in less than three minutes.
The Undertaker missed Wrestlemania 35 but returned next year. He faced AJ Styles in a historic Boneyard Match at this year’s event – this was The Undertaker’s last WWE match. Famously known as The Deadman, The Undertaker’s American Badass gimmick was also quite popular. He goes by the real name Mark William Calaway.
