Aahar, cities
Sir: This refers to the Aahar scheme being introduced from April 1 by the state government. The introduction of Aahar meals at Rs. 5 per packet is a praiseworthy move by the state government. Such schemes are in vogue at several metropolitan cities like New Delhi and Mumbai. The present scheme will go a long way in mitigating hunger from some of the urban centres of the state. However, the decision to introduce the scheme at five selected cities should be reconsidered or extended to other cities and town in future. It is a fact that maximum people from rural areas commute to their respective district headquarter towns to get their administrative works one. Such people can take the advantage of this new scheme.

Sir: The action against Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav was unavoidable as AAP had to retain its internal discipline. There was no real urgency for the two to take matters to a head even if we accept that Kejriwal needed to run the functioning of the party in a more democratically acceptable way.

Child labour
Sir: The recent media reports have been replete with information on measures introduced by successive governments, to curb the menace of child labour. Nothing substantial has however, happened. Moreover, the 2015-16 budget of the incumbent Union government has made a reduced allocation for the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS)… . Reportedly there are 60million child labourers in the country. This number will not come down unless their families are provided with employment. Until that day, any deal concerning Child Labour amounts to ‘only labour pain, no delivery!’
