Puri: Mystery shrouds the death of a prisoner who was serving life term at Puri district jail Wednesday.
The deceased identified as Trilochan Mallick, hailing from Kakatpur area in the district, was shifted to Choudwar Circle Jail where he was undergoing treatment due to psychiatric problems. He was sent back to Puri district jail in 2014.
He complained of uneasiness after attending nature’s call and went to sleep. Later, some jail inmates found him having convulsion early this morning and immediately informed the jail authorities about it. He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where doctor declared him brought dead.
According to reports, Trilochan was arrested in 2006 for allegedly killing his nephew. He was sentenced to life by court in 2009 and lodged in the jail since then.
