Chandbali: A man died after he was struck by lightning at Neduali village under Chandbali block in Bhadrak district late Friday night. The deceased was identified as Sada Yadav.
Sources said, a bolt of lightning struck Yadav when he was engaged in the construction of a pond for prawn farming. All of a sudden, heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty wind and thunderstorm hit the village. Yadav was struck by lightning, leading to his death on the spot.
Family members grew apprehensive when he did not return home till late in the night. They rushed to the pond site to enquire about him. When he was found motionless, they wheeled him to Chandbali Community Health Centre where doctors confirmed his death.
While the local police started a probe, the body was seized and kept in the hospital for post mortem.
