Badasahi: Demanding appointment of science and mathematics teachers at the Khirachora Gopinath Nodal Upper Primary School, the parents and the locals of Salagaon panchayat under Palapatana village of Mayurbhanj district Thursday staged a protest in front of the office of the block education officer (BEO).
The school has 101 students studying in Class I to Class VIII. The School and Mass Education (S&ME) department had appointed two persons to teach students after the unnatural death of a teacher December, 2018. Since then the two have been conducting the classes. The principal of the school has also been on leave since February this year.
The block education officer (BEO) had earlier assured the parents of the students that the appointment of a science and maths teacher would be done soon. However, till date nothing has materialised. This incensed the parents and the locals and they demonstrated in front of the BEO office.
Block resource coordinator (BRC) Babaji Charan Behera faced the agitators and assured them that their demands would be fulfilled. He promised to fill up the vacancies as soon as possible.
