Simulia: Thousands of people in four panchayats under Simulia block of Balasore have been suffering from commuting problems as a 4-km long road has been in bad shape for years. Locals alleged that the road has not been repaired for two decades.
Hundreds of people from Bari, Bangalpur, Kuanrpur and Shyamsundarpur filed to the house of MLA Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi Sunday morning and shouted slogans against the MLA.
Panigrahi assured the people that he would sanction Rs 4 lakh from his MLALAD fund and the road project will be included under Maukhya Mantri Sadak Yojana.
Reports said, over 5000 people depend on the road, which is now replete with big craters and pits. In the monsoon, the commuting on the road becomes hellish.
In 2011, the Markona-Bari and Ranital-Balikhand roads were included in the Pradhan Mantri Garma Sadak Yojana, but this road was left out in the survey, locals lamented.
They demanded immediate step for the renovation of the road.
