Koraput: Acting on a tip-off, police foiled a loot bid and arrested seven dacoits near Jayantigiri bridge under Borigumma police limits in Koraput district late Friday night.
According to sources, four of them have been identified as Sandip Kumar, Shankar Singh, Kisan Kashyap and Puliha Kaushik of Uttar Pradesh. The other three were identified as Sundar Gadaba, Dalapati Harijan and Jagannath Gouda of Borigumma area.
A police patrolling team conducted raid on the State Highway near the Jayantigiri bridge and nabbed the seven dacoits while they were hatching a loot plan. The cops also seized a car and various arms and ammunition, including two swords from their possession.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at the Borigumma police station and investigation into the matter in on.
