Bhubaneswar: In a bizarre incident, two youths were left with serious injuries after they attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons over a girl; the incident happened here in the Capital City Saturday.
The girl’s first lover with his friends was seen chasing her second lover with a sword in the street. The scene straight from a bollywood movie was witnessed in VSS Nagar area under Shahid Nagar police limits area.
The injured were rescued in a critical condition and admitted to the Capital Hospital. While no complaint has been lodged in this connection, police registered a suo moto case and launched a probe.
According to sources, the girl, hailing from Jharsuguda resides in a ladies hostel and is studying B.Tech in a private engineering college. She was in love with a youth identified as Susant Bisra of Rairangpur in Sundargarh district.
However, during her college days, she developed an affair with another youth of the locality. Unaware of the developments, Susant with his friend Bikram went to visit the girl in her hostel Saturday evening.
He reached the hostel and texted the girl to come out and meet him. Instead, the girl messaged her second lover about Susant’s arrival.
Soon after, the girl’s second lover with four of his friends on motorbikes reached the spot with sharp-edged weapons and attacked Susant and his friend Bikram.
They tied the two to a pole and beat them up mercilessly. In retaliation, Susant and Bikram also attacked the girl’s second lover.
After getting information from locals, police rushed to the spot and rescued Susant and Bikram drowned in a pool of blood while the accused fled in fear of arrest.
The rising trend of killings and attacks due to infidelity and affairs has become a matter of concern in the Capital city, Police said.
