Umerkote: A couple committed suicide at Nuagada in Hirapur panchayat under Umerkote police limits in Nabarangpur district Saturday. The bodies were recovered from the woman’s house. The deceased are Bhagabati Kalar, 19, and Sanpat Bhatara, 21.
Sources said they were in love for long. Friday night Bhagabati’s father Tularam had gone to see a fair at a nearby village. When Tularam returned Saturday morning he found the door locked from inside. With the help of neighbours Tularam broke open the door and found that Bhagabati and Sanpat had hanged themselves.
IIC Umesh Sahoo and tehsildar Dharamraj Majhi reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Police said Sanpat had come to Bhagabati’s house Friday night and both committed suicide. IIC Sahoo said investigations are on into the matter.
