Cuttack, May 18: The Orissa High Court Monday granted bail to Ollywood choreographer Lubun Sen who was arrested in a casting couch case here.
The commissionerate police had earlier arrested the music video director, actor and choreographer from his Cuttack residence on charges of blackmailing a girl from Deogarh district.
An FIR was registered at CDA Phase-II police station here against Lubun for allegedly blackmailing a girl to extort money from her. Following the complaint, police detained Lubun for interrogation before arresting him. “A person from Deogarh has filed an FIR alleging Sen was threatening the girl over phone. He was asking her to break her marriage alliance and demanding money. Prima facie, he has threatened the girl and her father,’’ Cuttack ACP Satyanarayan Behera said.
The choreographer had reportedly floated an outfit recently seeking aspiring artistes for movie ventures. He used to meet the applicants from across the state to test their acting skills. The accused had shortlisted the victim, who had worked as an album artiste, to introduce her in movies. A few months ago, he had invited the victim for shooting at a house in CDA sector 10. Before reaching the location, he had allegedly offered her beverages laced with intoxicants following which she fell unconscious. Taking advantage of the situation, he allegedly shot her nude pictures after raping her.
When she regained consciousness, she confronted her director who in turn asked her to concentrate on her career forgetting the past. She left the location. However, the director allegedly made calls to her on the pretext of shooting which she turned down.
When she refused to entertain his calls, he threatened to upload the nude pictures on internet. Her family alleged the director played a role in breaking her marriage alliances recently. Besides, he had demanded `2 lakh in exchange of the sex videos and photographs. Apparently unnerved by the calls, she paid him some money not to malign her character, reports said.
The upcoming actress lodged a complaint with the police after she came to know that the accused had shown the nude pictures to her friends. Following this, police called Lubun to police station for interrogation before arresting him.
