New Delhi, June 1: Medium-pacer Harmanpreet Kaur has been named captain of the India Blue squad for the women’s Challenger Trophy to be played in Mysore, June 14-17. Orissa’s Madhusmita Behera has found a place in the Blue squad while Sushree Pradhan will play for India Green comprising under-19 players. However, Rasanara Parwin and Madhuri Mehta have failed to find a place in either the Red or Blue teams. Their omissions are indeed strange, keeping in mind that both are regulars in the national side.
The women’s selection committee met here Monday to finalise the India Red, India Blue and the India Green squads for the four-day event, which will serve as a tune-up for New Zealand’s tour of India in June-July.
Meanwhile, Sushree stated in Bhubaneswar that she will use the platform to showcase her performances in front of the national selectors. “This is a crucial tournament for me and I am working very hard to put up a good show,” she stated.
