Bhubaneswar: The Mahanadi Bachao Andolan (MBA) will hold a demonstration in front of Raj Bhawan here Tuesday protesting the dilly-dallying attitude of the Central government in forming a tribunal to resolve the Mahanadi river water dispute between Orissa and Chhattisgarh.
The outfit will also submit a memorandum to Governor S C Jamir on the issue. The MBA has urged political parties, intellectuals, lawyers, journalists and social outfits to support the satyagraha to be staged outside Raj Bhawan.
MBA convener Sudarshan Das said in a release that the Union government had presented a proposal before the Supreme Court to form a tribunal by November 19, 2017. However, it is yet to comply with the proposal, the release added.
The MBA had agitated at Lower PMG Square here November 20 over the delay in formation of the tribunal. A meeting was convened November 26 here in which it was decided to stage a satyagraha outside the Raj Bhawan December 5.
