Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MPs from both the Houses of the Parliament Tuesday felicitated party MP Bhartruhari Mahtab for getting the Outstanding Parliamentarian for 2017’ by President Ram Nath Kovind recently.
The BJD MP from Cuttack, Bhartruhari Mahtab, was awarded ‘Outstanding Parliamentarian Award for 2017’ by President Ram Nath Kovind at a function in the Central Hall of Parliament in New Delhi last week.
The party MPs Tuesday organised the felicitation ceremony in the BJD Parliamentary Party office in the Parliament House where the veteran leader was felicitated as a mark of respect for his contributions to the Parliament as an MP from the party. Members from the Houses like Prasanna Acharya, Kalikesh Singh Deo, Nagendra Pradhan, Prabhas Singh, Pratap Keshari Deb and others were seen.
The awardees for the prestigious Outstanding Parliamentarian Award were selected on the basis of their debating skill, awareness on issues, experience, maintenance of dignity, observance of the rules of procedure and contribution in the parliamentary committees. The selections were made by the Indian Parliamentary Group headed by the Lok Sabha Speaker.
Along with Mahtab, Nazma Heptulla, Hukumdev Narayan Yadav, Ghulam Nabi Azaad and Dinesh Trivedi were also awarded for 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively.
