Bhubaneswar: Acting on a tip-off, the Commissionerate Police Saturday arrested the main accused in connection with the vandalism at Saheed Nagar Police Station and attack on police officials Sunday night.
He has been identified as Prakash Tripathy, a BJD worker. After his arrest, he was allegedly suspended from the party, sources said. At least five persons have been arrested till now.
Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty said that strict action will be taken against all persons involved in vandalizing the police station.
Four police personnel including the IIC and ASI of Saheed Nagar Police Station sustained injuries after they were allegedly attacked by a group of miscreants late on Sunday night.
The miscreants had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint regarding a car and bike accident, but instead, they started beating up the on-duty police personnel and also vandalised the station.
