Bhubaneswar, April 20: The state government Monday effected a major reshuffle at  senior IAS level by switching positions of 11 top level bureaucrats.
1983 batch IAS Taradatt was made the new KBK chief administrator and was given additional charge of the director general, training and coordination of  Gopabandhu Academy of Administration.
Taradatt, who is at the helm of the revenue and disaster management department, may have been shifted to the apparently inconsequential position following allegedly negative reports against him in a section of the media, sources said.
1989 batch IAS officer and chief electoral officer (CEO) Mona Sharma was named secretary, revenue and disaster managmnet. She has been given additional charge of managing director, Orissa state disaster management authority (OSDMA). Debendra Nath Gupta was named the CEO.  Gupta now works as a special secretary in planning and coordination department.
Similarly, 1986 batch IAS Asit Tripathy, who is a joint secretary in the Union ministry of commerce and industry, has been given the home department. He has also been given the additional charge of employment training & technical education (ETE&T). The present ETE&T secretary, Chandra Sekhar Kumar, has been posted as new transport commissioner.
The 1988 batch IAS and present home secretary, CJ Venugopal, was posted as secretary of science and technology.
The 1990 batch IAS, Niten Chandra, who is secretary in the general adminstartion (GA) department, will handle the important assignment of commercial tax commissioner (CCT). GV Venugopala Sarma will move to Chandra’s place in the GA department. Sarma, currently a joint secretary in the Union home department, has been given the additional charge of the special relief commissioner (SRC).
The 1990 Batch IAS officer and present commercial tax commissioner Manoj Ahuja is the new cooperation secretary. Ahuja has been given additional charge of administrative reforms.
The government gave additional charge of information technology secretary to water resource secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena.
1997 batch IAS Sanjay Kumar Singh was named the new revenue divisional commissioner (RDC), southern division. Singh was on a seven-year term of inter cadre deputation to Bihar where he was special secretary to the Chief Minister for five years.
Notably, the state government has not touched any officers who are holding key positions relating to the Nabakalebara festival.
