Malkangiri: At a time when government hospitals are perceived as sub-standard, Malkangiri Collector Manish Agarwal has opted for the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here over a well-equipped private hospital for his wife’s childbirth.
Through this, the bureaucrat sent out a strong message about government hospitals. The Collector and his wife became proud parents and were more than happy with the facilities at the DHH.
Speaking on facilities at government hospitals, Agarwal said, “Medical facilities are much better at Malkangiri DHH than in any other hospital in neighbouring districts. The facilities here are good, and it will improve in future. I assure people of quality treatment.”
“My wife stays with me. So we decided to get it done here. It was a willful decision. We had done pre-natal check-ups only at DHH. Since the facilities here are comparable to private hospitals we didn’t have to look for alternatives. It has all turned to be very good,” Manish Agarwal said.
Top government officers mostly prefer Visakhapatnam or Bhubaneswar for medical services. However, the Collector’s action is indeed a matter of pride for the tribal district’s hospital authorities who have assured to take healthcare facilities to another level with their hard work.
