Mamita Meher murder case BJP observes bandh in several districts

Bhubaneswar: Intensifying its demand for removal of Minister of State for Home, Dibya Shankar Mishra, for his alleged links with Gobinda Sahu, the prime accused in Mamita Meher murder case, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is observing 12-hour bandh in Boudh, Balasore, Deogarh, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara districts and 6-hour bandh in Bhadrak district Saturday.

The bandh has thrown normal life out of gear in these districts. While educational institutions, offices, markets, shops and business establishments downed their shutters, vehicular movement came to a grinding halt. However, ambulance, fire brigade, milk van and medicine shops have been kept out of bandh’s purview.

Party workers across the districts were seen picketing at key locations in the five districts.

Besides the scalp of the Minister, the party has also been demanding CBI probe into the sensational lady teacher murder case.

Earlier in the month, the party had observed 12-hour bandh in Nuapada, Subarnapur, Sambalpur, Bolangir and Kalahandi districts over the same demand.

Notably, Minister Mishra Friday said he will resign from his position and retire from public life if he is proved guilty.
