Bhawanipatna: Police while carrying out a search Friday at the residence of Radheshyam Chandi, one of the accused in the Mamita Meher murder case, found some materials that could belong to the deceased. Radheshyam was arrested Thursday and is an associate of the other accused in the case Gobinda Sahu.
Among the items found were a handbag, three pairs of ladies garments, a mobile phone, its charger and some medicines that were kept under the bed in a bag. Police are however, yet to disclose whether the items belong to the deceased Mamita.
Police said that Radheshyam worked as a driver for Gobinda, who was the president of Sunshine English Medium School managing committee in Mahaling locality of Kalahandi district.

However, Radheshyam’s wife Asha Chandi had a different tale to narrate. She said K Gaon police had snatched away a bag containing some belongings that was brought home by Radheshyam 10 days back. She also claimed that her husband is innocent and is being falsely implicated in the case.
“K Gaon police of Bolangir district snatched the bag away from me just when I was planning to present it to the media,” she told reporters Friday. “They also warned me not to mention anything about the bag to anyone,” Asha added.
Asha also informed that her husband has been working as a driver for Gobinda, but quit sometime back. “He wanted to start farming activities and so he quit the driver’s job after working for three months. My husband is innocent and has been falsely implicated. Radheshyam has no involvement in the murder of Mamita,” Asha claimed.
This new revelation could land personnel of the K Gaon police station in further trouble. Earlier, K Gaon IIC Damu Parija was suspended Thursday. He had refused to register a ‘missing complaint’ when Mamita’s family members visited the police station, October 8.
